Interview Tips

Interviews can be overwhelming, even for those with years of experience. We've put together a step-by-step guide to assist you in presenting yourself with confidence and showcasing your personality.

Know the Company

Navigate through our site and find out more about Our Culture, Working Here and The Job. It would be a good idea to Meet the Team, too. Bring any questions you have to your interview.

Set the Scene

A great way to prepare for the interview is to rehearse with a friend or family member. It will boost your confidence and help you work out what you're going to say and how you're going to say it. Your friend can tell you if you're talking too fast, if your sentences are too long or your answers are hard to follow. Rehearse again and again and again until you feel 100% sure you've got it right.

Dress for Success

First impressions count. Make sure your clothes are clean, ironed and appropriate for an interview. That means no loud ties, heavy make-up, big earrings, overpowering fragrances, jewellery that jangles, unwashed hair or hair that flops into your eyes. Scan clothes for any stains, loose buttons or dodgy hems.

Question Time

Prepare something for when you are invited to ask questions. You only need think of two or three good questions. Ask about the person you will be reporting to, the team you'll be joining, your career path options or what your typical day might involve. If there are any other questions that came to you during the application process, be sure to ask them at your interview.

Clock Watching

Allow yourself enough time to get to the interview so that you've got at least 10 - 15 minutes to spare when you get there. Being on time will always impress an interviewer; being late will not.

Relax and Show Confidence

If you've prepared thoroughly for the interview there's no reason why you shouldn't have enough time on the day to do some relaxing. For example, do an activity unrelated to the interview and ensure you have a good meal beforehand. Confidence comes more fluently when you're relaxed.

Smile and Think Positively

Walk tall, with confidence and a smile. This isn't a test. You're only having a conversation with a person who on any other day is someone else's friend or brother or sister. Believe it or not, they actually want you to succeed. Relax and be yourself.
