The best way to find out more about returning to work is to hear it from someone who's been in your shoes before.
Tammy fell pregnant while she was employed at KFC and took time off to have her child. Several months on, she's back at KFC working full-time as a Restaurant General Manager.
We had a quick chat with her and this is what she has to say:
Why did you return to work after taking some time off?
Coming back was the most obvious thing to do because the work was familiar and the transition back into the workforce was easy. Also, KFC's flexible hours accommodated my needs and meant I could take care of my child.
What or who made it easy for you to return?
My Area Manager was very accommodating and understanding about the fact that I now had a family and had to juggle my priorities. He understood that at times, family comes first. This made it really easy for me.
What have you enjoyed about being back at work?
The people I work with! When I'm at work, I think of my team as my kids so it's just like being at home. The work itself is challenging and fun and allows me to continually develop my skills.
How does KFC accommodate existing employees returning to work?
Before employees go on leave, we work closely with them to determine how long they think they'll be away. We make clear to them the benefits they'll be entitled to in that time, and keep them in the loop with any changes or developments that take place while they're off. We don't like isolating our employees from what's going on, so we stay in regular contact and include them in any social events that take place while they're on leave.
When they return to work, we help them decide whether they'll be able to work full-time, part-time or on a casual basis.
And what about external applicants?
